The NEHS Bilingual Department is a unique addition to the National Experimental High School. As a part of this great school, the Department serves to educate and groom the leaders of tomorow. In this era of dramatic and unprecedented technological change and economic growth here in the Republic of China, the nation has very well recognized the need for fostering its valuable intellectual resources thus enabling it to claim its rightful place at the head of the Computer Age.
The National Experimental High School, also known as NEHS, was established within the Science Based Industrial Park in 1983. The Science Based Industrial Park, jointly administered by the National Science Council and ROC's Ministry of Education, is ROC's answer to the hi-tech bastions of the West. Its main functions are to cater research in cutting-edge technology and manufacturing ventures. Since its establishment, the SBIP has grossed over $276 billion NT (an estimated $10 billion US) in combined sales of hi-tech products*, which reaches beyond the projections.
The National Experimental High School serves the highly motivated student community of the Park. It encompasses five departments: the Kindergarten Department, the Elementary Department, the Junior High School Department, the Senior High School Department, and the Bilingual Department (1-12). The four basic departments are similar to that found outside the school and students attending these departments are native to the ROC and will continue their higher-level education at domestic institutions.
The Bilingual Department, with an estimated enrollment of over 400 students, serves the students returning from overseas with their families in which at least one of the parents serves the Science Park or a governmental agency. A unique goal of the Department is to prepare its students to return to the U.S. after finishing their high school education for college/university level education and to help them learn the Chinese culture.
In addition to the high academic reputation and combination of five departments is the outstanding facilities available at NEHS.
