The National Experimental High School and all of its entities are accredited by the Republic Of China (ROC) Ministry of Education and is jointly administered by the ROC Ministry of Education and the National Science Council. The Bilingual Department is operated as a magnet program.
Students in the Bilingual Department face a rigorous six-day week and demanding instructors who teach a fully-bilingual (English and Mandarin) curriculum. The rigorous college prep curriculum provides all the required high school courses for entry into college/university level work: English, Chinese (as a foreign language), four years of high school math (algebra I & II, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus), four years of social studies (world geography, American and world history, economics, and civics). Physical education and electives are also available.
- English: Taught by native speakers, the upper school English program is a college-preparatory course. The entire program is literature-based with intensive grammar, vocabulary, and composition strands, all of which emphasize the writing process. The courses in order of grade levels are:

- Chinese: Taught by local teachers, the intenstive, immersive Chinese program (1-12) takes students from their entry level to whatever levels they can achieve in the time during their enrollment at the Bilingual Department. Textbooks used in this program are the same with all local schools. For grades seven through twelve, Chinese courses are aounted as honors courses.
- Mathematics: The mathematics program includes the basic requirements for high school credits and much more. Courses are listed below with respect to increasing grade level:

The grading scale and Grade Point Average (GPA) points used by the Bilingual Department are outlined on the student transcript. In the calculation of a student's GPA, all courses are taken into account. The GPA is calculated on a 4.0 weighted scale. Letter grades are used for grades one though eight. Equivalent numerical values are given for grades nie through twelve for ease of calculation of the GPA.
